Behavior:
Absolutely comparable to Porcellio bolivari.
Breeding:
Breeding is relatively uncomplicated. The development time of approx. 9 months is in the medium range, but the number of young isopods is somewhat higher than with the other Porcellio species mentioned.
Special Features:
Porcellio nicklesi likes to eat dry/rotten leaves, carrots, fish food and cuttlefish. Sufficient pieces of cork and bark in various areas in the isopod breeding box are really important and essential. Extra heating is not necessary or recommended for Porcellio bolivari nicklesi. Sufficient air circulation in the box is much more important than the temperature.
Tip: The woodlouse breeding bI keep the tank relatively dry, with just one damp corner. I create this corner by adding a handful of sphagnum moss. I mix the moss with the forest soil already there and place a piece of dead wood on top to serve as a hiding spot. The moss absorbs the water and slowly releases it into the surrounding area. As a result, it’s enough for me to re-moisten it just once or twice a week.
