Porcellionides pruinosus- Cuban Isopods "Orange"
OriginCosmopolitan
Temperature23-26 °C, 25 °C is the optimum breeding temperature
Sizeup to 1.2 cm

Behavior:

Porcellionides pruinosus regularly appear on the substrate and are a great species for any beginner. As they are very voracious, they make excellent substrate police. They can often be found in the foliage, which they are very happy to accept as food and eat down to the skeleton.

Breeding:

The animals reproduce rapidly and you have to be careful that they don’t get out of hand in the community terrarium. The Cuban Isopod is therefore also very suitable as a food animal for medium-sized reptiles.

Brief description:

The ground color of this species is gray. The legs and antennae are white-grey in color.

Special features:

There is an orange and white color form which are also very popular with various reptiles and frogs. As soon as the white breeding form is stable in its reproduction, we will offer it here.

Tip: Cuban Isopods eat and need a lot of calcium, so we always offer our animals some in powder form.

I’ve written an article about setting up and feeding Cuban Isopods.
