| Temperature | 22-27 °C |
| Size | nominate 2.5 cm, giant 3.5 cm |

Likes to hide under dead wood or moss. As soon as it gets light they run away.
Breeding:
Breeding is relatively uncomplicated. The development period lasts approx. 9 months.
Special features:
One of the few isopod species that produces a giant form that is significantly larger than the nominate form. This makes Porcellio haasi an extremely interesting breeding isopod for further mutations.
Tip: Very good ventilation is essential. Either attach a large ventilation area to the lid or keep the breeding completely without a lid. The temperature should be slightly higher than the normal room temperature and the humidity should be lower than for other isopod species. It is best to keep only a corner of the breeding container filled with plenty of leaves moist.
