Foliage is a staple food for many first and second decomposers. These include isopods, springtails, diplopods, echytraa and many others. The animals prefer to eat decaying rather than freshly fallen leaves. This can be wonderfully observed on the forest ground, where the life of the first decomposers begins in the lower forest soil layers.
For this reason we have fermented the feeding leaves. During fermentation, the lignin contained in the leaves is broken down. This enables the animals to better absorb and utilise the ingredients.
