Vriesea “Era”

Vriesea “Era” is not a bromeliad species that occurs in nature. It is a hybrid of Vriesea carinata and Vriesea hieroglyphica. This hybrid was bred in the Netherlands and is a popular ornamental plant, highly prized for its showy flowers and attractive appearance.

 

The leaves of Vriesea “Era” are long and narrow and have a dark green color. The underside of the leaves is covered with fine white scales. The inflorescence of Vriesea ‘Era’ is erect and can grow up to 60 cm high. The flowers are cylindrical, yellow and are in a narrow spike.

 

Vriesea ‘Era’ is a relatively low maintenance plant that requires bright, indirect sunlight and high humidity to thrive. The soil in which it grows should be well-drained to avoid waterlogging. This plant can be grown indoors as well as in terrariums as long as it is adequately protected and kept in a frost-free climate.
