Short description Bucephalandra spec. “Kapuas Hulu”:
This decorative, narrow-leaved Bucephalandra variety comes from the Kapuas Hulu region in West Kalimantan, on the island of Borneo. There it grows as a rheophyte on rocks in the flood zone of rainforest streams. Our Bucephalandra sp. “Kapuas Hulu” is characterised by elongated, about 9 cm long, dark green leaves with reddish brown stems on a strong rhizome.
Bucephalandra species and forms are mainly epiphytes that attach themselves to rocks or wood and find support with their roots. They can also be anchored to the ground, but the rhizome should not be buried to avoid rotting. Bucephalandra sp. “Kapuas Hulu” roots itself and benefits from humidity. Growth is generally slow to very slow.
Bucephalandra sp. “Kapuas Hulu” also thrive in low light conditions, but develop their most beautiful appearance in medium light. The ideal temperature range is 20 to 27°C.
We recommend attaching Bucephalandra sp. “Kapuas Hulu” to a stone or wood with a drop of silicone or hot glue. Be careful not to damage the plant in the process. It is best to leave the plant alone afterwards so that it can grow undisturbed. As a rule, Bucephalandra grow slowly and form new shoots on the rhizome.
Bucephalandra sp. “Kapuas Hulu” can be easily propagated by cutting off terminal and lateral shoots, which also promotes branching of the plant.
