Anubias barteri var. nana: A robust green for your terrarium or paludarium
The Anubias barteri var. nana, a hardy and attractive plant, is an ideal choice for the design of terrariums and paludariums. Its compact size and slow-growing, dark green, glossy leaves make it a popular element for naturalistic settings. Originally from the flowing waters of Borneo, Anubias barteri var. nana has adapted perfectly to the conditions in humid biotopes.
This plant is characterised by its robustness and ease of care, which makes it attractive for both beginners and experienced terrarium enthusiasts. Anubias barteri var. nana requires little light and can be placed well in the shady areas of the terrarium or paludarium. Its leaves are almost indestructible, making it a safe choice, especially in environments that also harbour small animals such as frogs or small reptiles.
Caring for this plant is very simple: it prefers high humidity, which is typical of its natural habitat, and can cope with a wide range of water conditions.
It therefore does not necessarily need osmosis water. The temperature should be between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius, which most closed biotopes naturally support. Over-fertilisation should be avoided and the plant should not be placed directly under strong light to prevent leaf damage.
Anubias barteri var. nana is often attached to stones or roots, as its rhizomes should not be buried in substrate to avoid rotting. This method of attachment allows the plant to grow above water in a paludarium while its roots are submerged in water.
With its longevity and low maintenance requirements, Anubias barteri var. nana offers lasting and natural beauty for your terrarium or paludarium, supports the ecological balance and creates a healthy environment for all inhabitants.
