Short description about Typopeltis spec. Java “Whip Scorpion”:
Whip scorpions belong to the order of arachnids and resemble a real scorpion, but do not have a sting. The whip on the abdomen is used to spray a defensive secretion. And he does this very cleverly! Up to 80 cm he sprays his secretion, which burns in the eyes but is not poisonous. Therefore, despite the missing sting, some caution is required. But we have not yet experienced a military secretion attack ourselves.
For single keeping a 40x30x30 cm terrarium can be used. It is also possible to keep them in groups, but then the size has to be adjusted. The breeding works without big problems. The forest humus should be at least 5 cm high and you should offer the animals hiding places in the form of pieces of cork and leaves.
