Fascinating jumping spiders from the Everglades National Park
Phidippus regius “Everglades” is a jumping spider from the Everglades National Park in Florida. The female jumping spiders have a striking orange coloration on the thorax and abdomen. The male Phidippus regius “Everglades” are black-white colored and have green-metallic shimmering chelicerae.Phidippus regius “Everglades” are like all jumping spiders quite agile and you get to see them actually always. Just before moulting they climb into their webs and stay there until the process is finished. The animals are hunters and capture their food without any problems. It is always a spectacle to watch them.
Suitable food animals are fruit flies, house flies or oven fish. Everything that is not eaten within one day should be removed from the terrarium. We feed and water juvenile spiders every 3 days and adults once a week.Humidity should be 70% with good ventilation. We spray some water in a corner. This is sufficient and it is better to spray sparingly than too much. The animals absorb the water drops as needed and thus quench their thirst.
