Up to now there are still relatively few Cubaris color morphs. Therefore we are happy about every single specimen that can already show a stable color breeding. Cubaris spec. “Shiro Utsuri” is one of them.
A characteristic feature of this species is its broad body. This makes the color variation “Dalmatian” very good. This already known color form comes out very well with Cubaris spec. “Shiro Utsuri” because of its white border. The name Shiro Utsuri comes from the Japanese Koi breeding and means nothing else than a black and white pattern. Since Cubaris spec. “Shiro Utsuri” is a color variety bred in Japan, the naming makes sense.
The species is very stable and you get relatively fast a nice breeding group together. We have set up different climate zones in the terrarium and you can find the isopods in drier areas just as often as in moist moss.
The ventilation areas can be placed like in usual Armadillidium terrariums. The isopods grow relatively fast and are already sexually mature after about 6-8 months.
