Unident. spec. African “Grey” – The elegant shade of gray among the millipedes
With its soft, silver-grey coloration, the
Unident. spec. African “Grey”
brings a calm yet fascinating appearance to the terrarium. This African millipede is a medium-sized to large species and is not only visually appealing but also robust and adaptable. The uniform body structure, the calm locomotion and the subtle, elegant play of colors make this representative a special eye-catcher for collectors and lovers of exotic invertebrates.
Keeping them is uncomplicated: A well-ventilated terrarium with a slightly moist, humus-rich substrate (ideally leaf humus with white rotten wood) forms the basis. As soil police and decomposers, these animals actively contribute to the decomposition of organic materials and support a stable microclimate – also ideal for bioactive setups.
Softer vegetables such as carrot, zucchini, parsnip or sweet potato are suitable for feeding, supplemented with leaves and occasionally fish food or gammarus. It is important to maintain a constant basic humidity without waterlogging, as well as sufficient hiding places with pieces of cork or moss cushions.
The
Unident. spec. African “Grey”
is a peaceful and very observable species that can also be kept well in groups. Its calm nature makes it ideal for beginners to the world of diplopods, but it is also of great interest to experienced keepers due to its origin and coloration.
