Short description:
Anyone who has ever seen Porcellio werneri will never forget this species. Its almost round and very flat overall appearance is unique and fascinates everyone who sees it. The animals take advantage of this physique and like to stick to roots or stones. If you get your hands on them anyway, they face death immediately. They are gray and have a wide white edge on the segment plates.
Like all Porcellio species the animals prefer a rather dry substrate with a moist moss corner. They are very susceptible to too wet substrate and still need a certain basic moisture for moulting. This balance is sometimes difficult to maintain, because a great deal of sensitivity is required between flaws in the moulting process and too moist substrate.
