Short description:
Phormingochilus spec. rufus is a tree-dwelling tarantula from Indonesia. Its catchment area is in the middle of the tropics and has a corresponding, distinctly tropical climate with high humidity (over 80%). Therefore the keeping of this species should be very humid. It is important to ensure that no waterlogging occurs. This can be achieved with a good aeration area and a high substrate height with a forest humus spaghnum moss mixture. The substrate can be covered with moss to achieve a suitable climate for this beautiful tarantula. Average temperatures in Indonesia vary from 27.7 °C in May to 26.7 °C in December.
However, they can be kept at room temperature. This prolongs the fast development time of two years a little bit.Phormingochilus spec. rufus likes to live in their living web and also likes to build substrate and pieces of bark into it. The animals are crepuscular and nocturnal and take their food and water during this time of day. Branches and cork barks offered in the terrarium, which are placed diagonally in the terrarium, are gladly used as support for their living web.
