Short description:
The basic colour is dark brown. The 1st segment and the pleon are yellow. The legs and antennae of this species are dark brown. This colour constellation and the “duck face” gives the isopod the name “Rubber Ducky”.
Cubaris spec. “Rubber Ducky” lives in the tropical areas of Thailand. Therefore, a humidity of 70-80% should be maintained. To keep the humidity, you can cover the substrate with leaves, moss, bark or similar. Cubaris spec. “Rubber Ducky” is sensitive to stagnant air. Therefore, there should be sufficient ventilation despite the high humidity.
The organic material contained in the substrate serves as food as well as additional food such as vegetables, fruit and isopod food. A large layer of foliage on the substrate is very popular as a feeding and hiding place. The species regularly stays on the surface in adult status and can be observed well. Breeding this species as an adult is relatively difficult. Therefore, on the one hand, a varied food supply should be ensured, but also the pH value in the bottom should be kept low with sea almond leaves.
