Short description Armadillo tuberculatus:
Armadillo tuberculatus is a typical representative of the Armadillo genus. They are very compactly built and usually lie curled up on the substrate. Armadillo species always occur where other genera such as Armadillidium or Porcellio species find it too dry. Therefore, Armadillo tuberculatus should be kept about two-thirds of the area in the terrarium dryer. The development time can be compared to Armadillo officinalis “Israel” and can therefore be classified as slow. A special feature is that the young isopods have small bumps on their chitinous carapace. Why this becomes less pronounced in the course of development has not yet been researched.
The animals mainly eat fodder leaves and white rotten wood. Occasionally, however, they also like to eat vegetables and proteins. However, much less than in other species.
