We we decided for Hobby Terraristik
Shipping glass terrariums with a shipping company is always a risk. We thought about this for a long time and tried out many things. At that time, we came across the video from Hobby Terraristik. It shows how easy it is to assemble the Hobby terrarium. A glass terrarium that could safely survive a drop of 2 m was a small sensation for us that we absolutely had to include in our range. Over time, new products from Hobby Terraristik have found their way into our range. We are absolutely convinced of the quality and price of the products.
The history of Hobby Terrarisitik
Dohse Aquaristik developed from a hobby of the founder Hans Dohse to a modern company with 45 employees and approx. 1,300 products. In addition to one of the first flake foods in the industry, the founder also developed medicines and made it possible to breed Artemia for the first time. This was not only of interest for the company, but also for the entire industry, because from that moment on, aquarists could breed live food themselves for their offspring.
After many more inventions and a growing range of products, the son-in-law Viktor Pinders joined the company and took over the commercial management of Dohse Aquaristik and Hans Dohse was able to focus all his attention on his inventive creativity during this phase. After some groundbreaking developments (e.g. Sanoplant, the first CO2 fertiliser in tablet form and the Aqualit substrate), the move to the nearby district of "Bonn-Lengsdorf" had become inevitable. The company was located there for almost 30 years, until another move became unavoidable due to the continuous expansion. In 1996, the current managing partner, Axel Pinders, joined the company after studying and spending time abroad. The product range continued to expand. In 1998, the company headquarters were moved to Grafschaft-Gelsdorf in Rhineland-Palatinate.
There, new offices and a new hall were built on a 10,000 m2 site. The property was enlarged twice more and 2 additional halls were built and occupied. Today, a total of 4,500 sqm of hall space is available, in which almost 1,300 finished products and 4,000 production parts are stored. Due to the many product innovations, a further hall with 1,000 sqm was put into operation at the beginning of 2010. Since 1998, the product range has been expanded to include terrariums. This assortment has been continuously expanded and today comprises approx. 200 products that are indispensable in the trade and the terrarium hobby. The assortment includes all product areas that are needed for species-appropriate animal husbandry. In 2004, Dohse Aquaristik took over DUPLA, the former market leader for plant care in aquariums. The Dupla range was streamlined and supplemented with useful products. This brand covers a high-quality product range and was thus an excellent fit for the Dohse Aquaristik portfolio. In 2007, a seawater assortment was developed under the DuplaMarin brand and presented in full at Interzoo 2008. After 8 years, the DuplaMarin range has become an indispensable part of the scene and contains products that cannot be found anywhere else. Universities, zoos and large aquariums also like to use the products.
