The architecture of survival: basics of keeping the Linothele fallax tarantula
Keeping Linothele fallax is not only exciting, but also surprisingly easy as long as its specific needs are met. It requires a constant humidity of 80-90 % and feels particularly comfortable at temperatures between 24-26 degrees Celsius. An ideal home for the Linothele fallax is a terrarium measuring 30x30x30 cm. We recommend the ReptiPlanet terrarium, which can be opened from the top. This opening method makes it much easier to care for and handle the spider. The practical feeding hatch allows you to easily put the food animals into the terrarium without disturbing the tarantula.
Linothele fallax is a ground-dwelling tarantula species that prefers to lay its webs on the substrate. It is best to place a branch in the centre of the terrarium. The Linothele fallax uses this to spin its impressive and artistic-looking web. These webs are not only proof of the creative side of nature, but also serve as a hunting ground and retreat for the spider.
Feeding is uncomplicated. It eats once a week, which makes feeding very predictable and easy. The food animals can be almost as big as the spider itself. A water dish is not necessary as the spider absorbs the required moisture directly from its web. You should therefore always moisten the web sufficiently when spraying.
Decorative plants or other elements in the terrarium are not necessary, as the spider would weave them into its web. Instead, the minimalist setup emphasises the natural beauty and fascinating behaviour of the Linothele fallax.
With the right care and an understanding of their needs, you can enjoy their unique beauty and interesting behaviour every day while experiencing a piece of exotic nature in your home.
