Short description Subulina octona:
The nano-suitable Subulina octona reaches a shell length of maximum 2 cm. Therefore, it is best suited as a supplement in a tropical terrarium. We keep them in different Cubaris terrariums and are always amazed how much pleasure we get from observing this small snail species.
They like to decompose leaves and other dead material. With the planting in the terrarium it depends on whether they like it or not, true to the motto “trial makes wise” one should test the respective plant. We feed additionally banana and Chinese cabbage, which is accepted very well.
Subulina octona lays pinhead-sized eggs and is also very easy to breed. As with most snail species, this species is also a hermaphrodite. Under laboratory conditions even a parthenogenesis (virgin production) was found, but we never tested this ourselves. In German, the small awl snail is also called Brazilian trumpet snail or unicorn.
