Armadillidium spec. “Casteldaccia” captivates by its unusual color pattern. The ground color is a dark gray, which runs through to the antennae and legs. Between the single segment plates a yellow ochre gold ochre shines out. This unusual coloration makes them a beauty. Thereby the yellow parts vary strongly and we are currently in the process of breeding out a “High Gold” variant. Maybe one or the other of you will have fun with it? The body structure is massive and comparable to Armadillidium gestroi.
The keeping condition of Armadillidium spec. “Casteldaccia” is also suitable for beginners and follows the pattern of the rollassel keeping. Forest humus and white rotten wood as bottom substrate, a moist moss corner and food leaves as litter layer is the basic equipment. Of course, cuttlefish must not be missing and now and then a treat that covers the protein balance and provides a change in the food supply. The animals come from Sicily, more precisely from Casteldaccia. They have adapted to the dry summer months and can therefore be kept a bit drier. A humidity of 70% on average has proven to be suitable.
The animals reproduce as fast as almost all woodlouse species and you can quickly enjoy offspring.
