Brief description of the Philippine ghost insect:

The animals require temperatures of 22 to 28 °C and a humidity of between 60 and 80 percent. This can be achieved by spraying the terrarium every two days. The amount of water depends on the size of the terrarium and the ventilation areas. Sungaya inexpectata “Philippine Ghost Grasshopper Lowland” like to sit hidden during the day on parts of plants that are preferably similar in color to the animals themselves. You can therefore offer them dry brown hardwood branches in the terrarium. They like to eat blackberry leaves, which are easy to obtain all year round, making them very uncomplicated terrarium keepers. The food plants are placed in the terrarium as leafy branches, preferably in narrow-necked vases. The eggs are simply dropped on the ground by the females. These hatch after approx. 4-6 months depending on the temperature. The animals need approx. 3-4 months to reach sexual maturity.
