During molting, walking leaves hang upside down and shed their old skin. For this reason, there must be sufficient open space beneath the animal.

A warm, tropical climate is ideal for keeping this plant. Temperatures of approximately 24–28 °C provide good conditions.

Humidity can range from about 70–85%. However, the interaction with ventilation is crucial here. Humid air should not be confused with a terrarium that is constantly wet.

Therefore, spray them lightly on a regular basis while ensuring good air circulation. The water droplets on the leaves also serve as a source of drinking water for the animals.

Fresh leaves as the main food source

Phyllium letiranti “Tataba” feeds exclusively on plants. Fresh and, of course, pesticide-free food plants are particularly suitable.

Suitable options include, among others:

• Guava

Blackberries are especially convenient because they’re available almost year-round in many places.

Place the cut branches in water so they stay fresh as long as possible. However, be sure to cover any open water containers so that animals can’t fall in.

By the way, you don’t necessarily have to replace all the food every day. The key is to keep the leaves fresh and ensure that the animals always have enough suitable food available.

Calm Animals Suitable for Group Housing

Phyllium letiranti “Tataba” generally does well in groups. Nevertheless, you should make sure there is enough space and plenty of food.

It is especially important that the animals do not disturb one another during molting. Therefore, the terrarium should not be overcrowded.

Females become significantly sturdier and have a particularly distinctive leaf shape. Males, on the other hand, remain slimmer and appear to have a lighter build.

Breeding and Eggs
