The care guides differ significantly when it comes to the exact humidity levels. However, one point comes up time and again: This species should not be kept in dry conditions, but at the same time, there must be good ventilation.

For this reason, we would not fixate on a single humidity level.

Much more important is a slightly moist, deep substrate that retains moisture in the lower layers. The surface, on the other hand, may dry out slightly in places. At the same time, good ventilation prevents moisture from turning into permanently stagnant, stuffy air.

Temperature

A temperature of about 24–28 °C during the day has proven effective for keeping these animals. At night, the temperature may drop slightly. Various sources on care guidelines generally fall within this range, even though the recommended values vary slightly from one another.

This species does not require any specific extremely hot spots. Much more important are stable temperatures and soil that does not dry out completely due to intense heat.

A true master of storytelling
