Anadenobolus spec. 1 “Bumble-Bee Millipede” – Exotic, colorful and active
The Anadenobolus spec. 1, affectionately known as ” Bumble-Bee centipede“, impresses with its striking warning coloration: black base color and bright yellow rings are unmistakably reminiscent of a bumblebee. This play of colors is not only beautiful, but also an effective protective mechanism against predators in nature – a real eye-catcher for any terrarium!
The species originates from the Caribbean or southern Central America, but more precise details have not yet been scientifically confirmed. When kept, the Anadenobolus spec. 1 “Bumble-Bee millipede” extremely agile, curious and diurnal. It is one of the more active diplopods and therefore also offers many exciting observation moments during the day – perfect for all those who are not just looking for nocturnal species.
With a body length of around 4 to 5 cm, the Bumble-Bee remains in the medium size range, which makes it ideal for small to medium-sized terrariums. As a group animal, it feels particularly comfortable if it is not kept alone. A terrarium from 30 × 30 × 30 cm for a small group is recommended. The substrate should be loose, humus-rich and permanently slightly moist – a mix of forest humus, leaves, white rotten wood and flake soil is ideal.
In nutrition Anadenobolus spec. 1 “Bumble-Bee millipede” They are not fussy: soft vegetables such as carrots, cucumber, sweet potato or parsnip are just as much a part of their diet as autumn leaves, moss and small amounts of animal protein in the form of fish flakes or gammarus. Stable humidity with good ventilation is also important, as stagnant moisture is avoided.
The Anadenobolus spec. 1 “Bumble-Bee millipede” is an attractive species for both beginners and experienced keepers – striking in appearance, uncomplicated to keep and lively in behavior. A real splash of color for any invertebrate collection!
