Armadillidium gestroi “White Spotted”

Armadillidium gestroi “White Spotted” is a colour variant from our own breeding facility. The keeping of the animals is exactly the same as for Armadillidium gestroi.

The habitat of the animals is relatively humid. Therefore you should always make sure that the substrate never dries out. Armadillidium gestroi like to eat foliage and they often hide under it. Other food is only accepted sporadically, but should be offered every now and then. They especially like maple leaves. However, with this type of foliage you should watch out for mould or stock the breeding stock directly with tropical springtails.

The appearance of this isopod is absolutely fascinating. Due to its stately size and the bright colouring, it already lays a foundation for its imposing appearance. The segment plates end with a gap to the one next to them. Thus they do not appear as smooth as many other isopod species but give the impression of a knight with many different pieces of armour.

Armadillidium gestroi “White Spotted” is easy to breed with an average development time. The rearing of the young is very easy and hardly claims any losses. However, the offspring rate of Armadillidium gestroi “White Spotted” in our breeding facility is not as high as with other Armadillidium species.
