Small but mighty! Ceratophysella spec. “Lilac” conquer the terrarium
We are pleased to introduce you to our newest springtail species: Ceratophysella spec. “Lilac”. These fascinating springtails are an enrichment for any terrarium or paludarium landscape and offer a multitude of advantages for hobbyists and terrarium enthusiasts.
Easy to keep and quick to reproduce, Ceratophysella spec. “Lilac” are an excellent choice for those looking for an effective soil police. After a short period of establishment – around 3 to 6 weeks – you will find that these little creatures will multiply vigorously in your terrarium or paludarium, helping to break down organic debris and loosen up the substrate.
At first glance inside the tin, it may seem as if these little animals are invisible. But don’t be fooled! The Ceratophysella spec. “Lilac” can often be found hidden at the edge of the box or in the substrate. A little patience and attention are required to discover their delicate bodies and fascinating movements.
The colour of Ceratophysella spec. “Lilac” varies depending on the incidence of light and the colour of the substrate. Under certain light conditions, they shimmer in a delicate lilac shade that lives up to their name. This visual diversity makes them not only useful inhabitants of the terrarium, but also an aesthetic highlight.
Compared to the Yuukianura aphoruroides already known in the hobby, the Ceratophysella spec. “Lilac” are somewhat smaller. However, despite their small size, they impress with their adaptability and usefulness in the terrarium.
A special characteristic of these springtails is their ability to jump. Thanks to their jumping fork, they can move effortlessly and jump to different heights, which distinguishes them from other species such as Yuukianura and Bilobella.
All in all, Ceratophysella spec. “Lilac” are a worthwhile addition to any terrarium or paludarium. Their ease of keeping, rapid reproduction and wide range of uses make them an indispensable part of any terrarium collection. Treat yourself and your animals to the pleasure of observing and enjoying these fascinating springtails.
