Hüpfel was a very unusual jumping spider. Most of her peers preferred to hunt flies and mosquitoes, but Hüpfel had a real fondness for vegetables. She liked carrots, broccoli and especially lettuce. Every morning she would wake up and go in search of her favourite vegetables. She hopped and jumped from leaf to leaf, from bush to bush and from tree to tree. Although the other animals in the garden sometimes looked at her strangely, they admired Hüpfel willpower and discipline, her unique way of leading her life and her love of vegetables.
One day, Hüpfel had been out for quite a while and had not yet found anything edible. She hopped from blade of grass to blade of grass and from flower to flower, but all she found were insects and worms – and she didn’t want to eat them. However, Hüpfel had an idea. She decided to jump to the other side of the meadow, where she hoped to have more luck.
She was already a little tired and still very hungry when she suddenly noticed the delicious smell of fresh lettuce in the air. Her stomach growled with delight and she followed the smell until she finally spotted the table with the huge salad. It was a real feast for Hüpfel and she couldn’t decide which leaf to try first. Cautiously, she jumped onto the table and began to help herself.
But she hadn’t counted on the fact that the people who had eaten the salad had added a special ingredient – chilli! Hüpfel was chewing on a leaf when suddenly her eyes went wide and her mouth was on fire.
Hüpfel jumped around the table frantically trying to put out her burning tongue. She shook her head back and forth trying to get rid of the sharp taste. The people who had been eating the salad suddenly noticed the little jumping spider and were surprised. They laughed loudly and pointed their fingers at Jumping Spider, who was still trying to get rid of the spicy taste. But then they noticed that she was really unwell and stopped. They decided to help Hüpfel and gave her some water. Hüpfel drank greedily and slowly felt better. The humans watched her carefully and began to wonder if chilli was really a good ingredient for the salad.
Hüpfel had learned from this incident and was more careful in choosing her meals since then. She now always tasted the leaves carefully before biting into them enthusiastically. That way she made sure she would not have to experience such an unpleasant surprise again.
Even though she didn’t like chilli and would never eat it again, Hüpfel remained an enthusiastic vegan. She loved to climb around in the vegetable garden and nibble in between.
Hüpfel was happy because she could spend every day in nature and always had enough to eat. She also learned how important it was to take care of her health by exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet. Sometimes she saw other insects lying in the shade all day eating unhealthy food. Hüpfel knew that this was not good for her health, so she stayed active and always ate balanced meals.
Although she sometimes hopped over tables or through the park, she knew to stay in places where she was safe and not exposed to danger. She also knew which plants were safe and which should be avoided.
Hüpfel loved her life as a jumping spider and enjoyed every moment. She hoped that she could show other animals how important it is to look after their health and safety in order to live a happy and fulfilled life.
