Troglodillo spec. “Sunset Queen”

The enchanting Troglodillo spec. “Sunset Queen” is an extraordinary isopod tender specimen that immediately catches the eye with its warm color palette ranging from deep orange to restrained rust brown. Originally known as “Sunset” or “Sunset Queen”, it is now considered a stably bred morph from Thailand and is highly sought after by collectors for its elegance and variety of colors.

Despite its exotic appearance, this species impresses with easy care requirements and is suitable for both beginners and experienced keepers. It is calm, active close to the ground and acts just as confidently in groups as it does when kept alone. The Sunset Queen feels particularly at home in a well-structured terrarium with a humus-rich substrate, leaf litter and a moist and secluded area.

The coloration varies in different light conditions and moulting cycles – the warm orange tones come into their own particularly well on dark soil. In terms of nutrition, it is uncomplicated: dead leaf litter, white rotten wood, moss and occasional pieces of fruit and vegetables are completely sufficient, supplemented by a source of calcium such as cuttlebone. According to breeding reports, reliable reproduction is possible if the microclimate remains constant and sufficient hiding places are available.
