Porcellio echinatus

Brief description:

At first glance, Porcellio echinatus looks like Porcellio scaber, i.e. the common woodlouse. They are gray throughout and rather inconspicuous. But when you touch them you notice that they feel very rough and on closer inspection you can see the small spines on their exoskeleton.

Like all Porcellio species, we keep the animals on a rather dry substrate with a damp corner of moss. However, the animals are by no means susceptible to a more humid environment. In general, the reproduction rate is high and the animals quickly settle into their new environment.
