Porcellio werneri

Brief description:

Anyone who has ever seen Porcellio werneri will never forget this species. Their almost round and very flat overall appearance is unique and fascinates everyone who sees them. The animals take advantage of this body structure and like to cling to roots or stones. If you get your hands on them anyway, they will die immediately. They are gray and have a wide white border on the segment plates.

Like all Porcellio species, the animals prefer a rather dry substrate with a moist corner of moss. They are very susceptible to excessively moist substrate and still require a certain basic moisture level for moulting. This balance is sometimes difficult to maintain, as a great deal of sensitivity is required between moulting errors and excessively moist substrate.
