Die Grundfarbe von Aphonopelma seemanni ist von braun über dunkelgrau bis hin zu blau und schwarz. Die Beingelenke sind weiß gestreift und auf den Beinoberseiten sind je zwei weiße Streifen zu sehen. Sie ist eine kräftig gebaute Vogelspinne und gehört zu den Bodenbewohner und baut gerne Röhren in das Substrat.
Die Luftfeuchtigkeit sollte nicht zu hoch sein. Ihr reichen 60-70% vollkommen aus. Wasser wird aus einem Trinknapf gerne angenommen und sollte stets angeboten werden. Aphonopelma seemanni verhält sich defensiv und zieht sich beim wechseln des Wassers eher zurück als das sie in den Angriff übergeht.
