It mimics fallen, dried leaves almost perfectly &#8211; both in color and shape. This mimicry not only protects it from predators, but also makes it an absolute highlight in any mantis collection. Their leaf silhouette with jagged edges and the matt brown coloration look extremely authentic, especially in a naturalistic terrarium.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The females reach a body length of around 7-8 cm, are more robustly built and develop a distinct &#8220;shoulder blade&#8221; in the adult stage. The males remain somewhat smaller at around 5-6 cm and are more delicate, but can fly well. Both sexes exhibit a calm, mostly loyal behavior, which also makes them interesting for less experienced keepers.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Preferred in husbandry <strong><span class=\"s1\">Deroplatys gorochovi<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span class=\"s2\">  a rather shady, not too warm setup with lots of vertical structures and natural materials such as bark, branches and foliage. A 20 \u00d7 20 \u00d7 30 cm raised terrarium per animal is absolutely sufficient. It is important to maintain a medium-high humidity (approx. 60-70%), which can be maintained by occasional spraying without the substrate having to be permanently wet. The temperature can be at room temperature (22-26 \u00b0C), with a slight drop in temperature at night.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Particularly exciting: With a little patience, this species also mates well. The females are generally peaceful towards the males if they have been fed sufficiently beforehand. The ootheca can also be hatched quite reliably at the right temperature and humidity, which <strong><span class=\"s1\">Deroplatys gorochovi<\/span><\/strong>  <\/span><span class=\"s2\">  makes it a popular species for smaller breeding projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The animals are not picky when it comes to feeding &#8211; they reliably accept flying insects such as gold flies, wax moths or small crickets. Due to their calm nature, they are not active hunters, but wait patiently for passing prey. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">If you are looking for an unusual, quiet and extremely well camouflaged mantis shrimp, you will find it in <strong><span class=\"s1\">Deroplatys gorochovi<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span class=\"s2\">  a fascinating species that fits perfectly into a naturally furnished display tank. Especially in combination with foliage, pieces of bark and natural colors, it unfolds its full effect &#8211; and almost blends in with its surroundings.
