It originally comes from the island of St. Lucia and has quickly established itself in the hobby. Although it is not scientifically described, it is usually classified as a    <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Armadillidium vulgare<\/span><span class=\"s1\">-shape circle. The animals show an impressive variety: some have warm orange and yellow tones, others appear gray-blue or almost black. Some animals have small spots or fine patterns, so that each group looks slightly different.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This local species is one of the medium-sized woodlice and grows to about two centimeters. Many of these animals are frequently seen, as they are more active during the day than other members of their genus. This makes it easy to observe their behavior, which makes them particularly appealing to Isopod enthusiasts. When danger threatens, they immediately curl up into a tight ball, effectively protecting themselves from predators and dehydration.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The posture shows  <strong>Armadillidium spec. &#8220;St. Lucia&#8221; <\/strong>  good robustness. It prefers a climate that is not too wet and not too dry. A slightly damp zone helps the animals, while a dry area serves as a retreat. This allows them to choose their own preferred spot. Structurally rich material such as pieces of bark, leaves and moss are popular. It provides them with food and suitable hiding places at the same time. Many keepers report that the colors of the animals appear more intense in well-furnished terrariums, as they find more microhabitats there.      <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Armadillidium spec. &#8220;St. Lucia&#8221; <\/strong>  is well suited for bioactive setups. It harmonizes with jumping spiders, mantids or plants and can also be kept as a pure display colony.
