After their final molt, the females develop an impressive range of colors. In addition to pure white individuals, there are also light gray, beige, or cream tones. They often display a delicate pink or orange sheen as well. The males differ significantly from the females. They have a predominantly black base color with a few white markings, giving them a particularly high-contrast appearance. <\/p>\n

Although we specifically select for a high proportion of white individuals, only about 30% of the females<\/b><\/span> develop this particularly light coloration.<\/span><\/p>\n

Curious, intelligent, and always alert<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Like all jumping spiders, Phidippus regius \u201cBahamas\u201d<\/b><\/span> exclusively during the day. She relies on her exceptionally keen eyesight. She spots prey from a considerable distance, watches every movement very closely, and then slowly approaches her target. Only when the right moment arrives does she pounce with lightning speed. <\/span><\/p>\n

Before each jump, the jumping spider secures a safety thread. This keeps it safe even if the jump fails, allowing it to climb back up without any trouble. <\/p>\n

It is precisely this behavior that makes jumping spiders so fascinating. They closely track movements, turn their heads toward the observer, and thus appear almost curious. Many owners therefore describe them as particularly intelligent terrarium pets. <\/p>\n
