Armadillidium gestroi – Robust and fascinating terrarium Isopods<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Armadillidium gestroi<\/span><\/strong> is one of the most popular isopods for terrariums and isopod keeping. The species impresses with its calm behavior, its beautiful segment structure and its high adaptability. This makes it suitable for both beginners and experienced terrarium keepers. <\/span><\/p>\n

The animals originally come from <\/span>Southern Europe<\/span>mainly from Italy. There they live in warm habitats with plenty of hiding places. They can be found under stones, between leaves or in rotten wood. This environment can be recreated very well in the terrarium. <\/span><\/p>\n

Under good conditions, Armadillidium gestroi<\/strong> reproduce reliably. The females carry their eggs in a brood pouch under their body. After some time, tiny young appear, which are initially very light in color. With each moult they become darker and develop their typical markings. <\/span><\/p>\n

Armadillidium gestroi<\/strong> also helps to <\/span>decompose organic material<\/span>. In this way, the animals support a stable microclimate in the terrarium.<\/span><\/p>\n
