Winter packing information
In general, we recommend winter shipping from October to April. If the temperatures fall permanently below 10°, winter packing is essential.
As soon as the weather situation changes accordingly, the store system will automatically add the winter packaging to the shopping cart when an animal order is placed.
In order for the isopods and insects not to get frostbite during shipping in winter, we need to pack them with special protection. Woodlice, spiders, millipedes and insects are cold-blooded animals, they cannot generate their own body heat and are dependent on the ambient temperature. If this drops below 10° in winter, the insects can freeze to death. To avoid this, we use our winter packaging, which prevents the shipping box from cooling down.
Performance:
Winter packaging is a combination of insulation and heating. A multi-walled cardboard box and special styrofoam plates (30 mm), which are inserted into the box to fit, provide good insulation and therefore protect the contents from the penetrating cold. Heat is generated by a 48 hour and/or a 72 hour heatpack, which reacts with oxygen in the air when in contact with it, radiating heat. We determine the duration of the heatpack and the number depending on the weather conditions. We also customize the size of the box to fit each order.
This way your new pets will arrive healthy and happy!
