Brief description Venezillo spec. “Cameroon”:

Venezillo spec. “Cameroon” is our first representative from Africa. We found it relatively difficult to breed for a long time. We have certainly had this species in our stock for 2 years. However, we have never been able to produce a surplus to offer them to you. We used a forest humus, sand and white rotten wood substrate and the success was limited or simply did not materialize. Vegetables or fruit offered were only moderately accepted and we suspected that this was a feeding specialist. Strictly speaking, this is also Venezillo spec. “Cameroon”, but in a different way than we thought. This Isopod species feeds mainly on the excrement of other animals. The symbiosis works particularly well with African snails and millipedes. Venezillo spec. “Cameroon” is therefore perfectly suited as a ground police for these two animal species. The advantages are many! The food offered is not eaten by the ground police and Venezillo spec. “Kamerun” does not get out of hand like other Isopod species and there is no overpopulation.
This small species of woodlouse is still pretty to look at. It is not sensitive to the husbandry parameters and adapts very well to the conditions. Their nature is rather reserved and in case of danger they form themselves into balls and stay there for quite a long time. With this nature, it does not disturb the other inhabitants and is a reserved but reliable guest in your terrarium.
