The Philodendron “Cherry Red” is an impressive ornamental plant that immediately catches the eye with its glossy, leathery leaves and characteristic reddish coloration. This tropical beauty originates from the rainforests of South America, where it thrives in warm, humid climates. Its vibrant colors and robust growth habit make it an ideal choice for the design of rainforest terrariums and adds a touch of the exotic to any habitat for your animals.

The plant prefers a semi-shady location and should be protected from direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves could burn. A light requirement of approx. 1,200-2,000 lumens is ideal for maintaining the bright red leaf coloration. If there is too little light, the Philodendron quickly loses its color intensity, while too much sun can lead to spots.

It feels particularly comfortable in the terrarium when the humidity is between 70-85 % lies. Its tropical origin makes it resistant to high humidity, which is why it can easily be integrated into a densely planted terrarium.
