Mopani wood – natural & durable

Mopani root is one of the classics among terrarium woods – and quite rightly so. Hardly any other natural material combines such an expressive look with functional versatility. Its bizarre twists and turns, strong two-tone coloration and partly smooth, partly rough surface make it not only an eye-catcher, but also a popular climbing and retreat for numerous terrarium inhabitants.

Our Mopani roots are genuine natural products, each one unique. The typical light and dark color gradients are created by the natural transition between sapwood and heartwood. As a result, each root blends in particularly harmoniously with naturally furnished tanks – whether for tarantulas, geckos, millipedes, isopods or other invertebrates.

The heavy, hard wooden structure ensures a stable stand in the terrarium. Even larger animals can hardly unbalance the Mopani root. The wood is also resistant to mold growth and decomposition, which makes it ideal for more humid setups such as paludariums or tropical insect tanks.

The back of this Mopani root is a particular highlight: the deeply furrowed, partially hollow structure not only offers an impressive look, but also practical hiding and climbing opportunities for many terrarium animals. Tarantulas, Isopods and millipedes in particular like to use these shady, irregular crevices to hide or move along the grain. The natural cavities give the root a three-dimensional effect and create more depth in the structure of your terrarium – perfect for offering your inhabitants not only a home, but also a small adventure land.

Its versatility is a real plus point: you can use it as a central decorative element, as a climbing aid, as a base for perching plants or as a hiding place. In combination with mosses, ferns or air plants, it looks particularly lively and supports the natural behavior of your animals.

Before placing the Mopani root in the terrarium, we recommend brushing it briefly with hot water. This will remove any remaining soil or dust. You can then use it without hesitation – without any chemical treatment.

Are you looking for a durable, decorative natural material that not only looks good, but can also be put to good use in the terrarium? Then our Mopani root is just the thing for you.
