Ideal for humid terrariums: Mangrove wood as decoration

The mangrove root is a truly unique natural specimen and is one of the most popular types of wood in terrariums – and quite rightly so. With its gnarled, often bizarrely shaped structure, it not only adds a visual highlight to your terrarium, but also creates a valuable habitat for your animals. Whether Isopods, millipedes, poison dart frogs or geckos – the surface invites them to explore, climb and hide. The mangrove root really comes into its own in tropical to subtropical set-ups.

Its high dead weight ensures that it stands securely – even in moist substrate. It retains its shape, rots slowly and can be used in the terrarium without hesitation. Its dense structure and rough surface make it ideal as a base for moss growth or epiphytes, which can literally cling to the branches. The mangrove root can also be wonderfully integrated into a near-natural layout in combination with humus, lava rock or spiderwood.

Unlike many other woods, mangrove root is extremely durable – a real statement for sustainable furnishings. Its dark, mostly reddish-brown coloring brings depth and contrast to any setup. The irregular surface creates a particularly natural look that visually highlights your animals and rounds off the overall picture.

You can use the root both vertically as a climbing element and horizontally as a decorative centerpiece. It is suitable for both small and large terrariums and is available in various sizes. Before using it, simply brush it off briefly or rinse it with hot water.

Whether as a single piece or in combination with other natural materials: with the mangrove root, you can bring a piece of the wilderness directly into your terrarium.
