Stable limestone for Isopods and soil dwellers
The limestone cut is a particularly practical and natural addition to Isopod terrariums. In addition to its decorative effect, it also fulfills an important function for many invertebrates.
Isopods prefer calcareous environmentsas they need the lime it contains to build their shells. This is precisely why limestone is regularly visited in many natural habitats. Many isopod species also like to nibble on the relatively soft limestoneto cover their calcium requirements.
Especially Cubaris species often use such limestone sources. In their natural habitat, they actively seek out calcareous soils or rocks. This is why limestone has also proven itself in the terrarium as a very useful addition proven.
In addition to its function as a source of calcium, the stone also offers numerous hiding places. The natural cracks and structures create small retreats for the animals. Above all Young Isopods like to use these narrow crevices because they are particularly well protected there.
Another advantage of our limestone is its cut underside. This gives the stone a Straight footprint and can be placed stably on the terrarium floor. Ideally, you should place it directly on the bottom of the terrarium and not on the substrate. This will prevent the stone from slipping later or being undermined by the animals.
Once the limestone has found its place, it is best to leave it permanently permanently. The stone is only removed briefly when the substrate is changed and then put back in place.
Limestone also blends in very well visually with natural terrarium landscapes one. The light color forms a beautiful contrast to the substrate, wood or plants and gives the terrarium a particularly natural structure.
As it is a natural product the individual stones differ in shape, color and structure. It is precisely these differences that make each limestone unique and ensure a particularly natural design in the terrarium.
