Hobby UV-B Quick Test – know in seconds whether your lamp is still working
UV-B radiation is vital for many reptiles. It supports vitamin D3 synthesis, calcium metabolism and therefore healthy bone formation. The problem: UV-B light cannot be seen with the naked eye. A lamp can still shine brightly and still hardly emit any UV-B. This is exactly where the Hobby UV-B Quick Test comes in.
With this practical test card, you can quickly and easily check whether your UV-B lamp is still producing effective radiation. The card uses a special high-tech detection material that is printed directly onto the surface. This material reacts to UV-B rays with a clearly visible color change. The test field changes color from white to purple. The more intense the UV-B radiation, the stronger the coloration.
The application is very simple. Hold the card directly in the beam of your UV lamp for about ten seconds. The ideal distance is about five centimeters. If a purple field appears, the lamp is still emitting UV-B radiation. If the field remains white, you should replace the lamp as soon as possible.
The Hobby UV-B Quick Test can be reused up to 500 times. This makes it not only practical, but also particularly durable. In addition, the card is made from a non-toxic and environmentally friendly material. You can therefore use it regularly without hesitation.
The UV-B Quick Test is also useful outside the terrarium. In the wild, you can use it to check how strong the UV-B exposure is on sunny days. If the field is clearly purple in color, you know that the radiation is very high and a shady spot would be advisable.
Important: The card does not replace a professional measuring device. It serves as a quick guide. UV lamps should always be replaced after twelve months at the latest, even if they are still emitting light. The Hobby UV-B Quick Test helps you to recognize in good time when it is time for a replacement.
With the Hobby UV-B Quick Test you actively ensure more safety, better control and healthier terrarium animals in the long term.
