UV-B radiation is vital for many reptiles. It supports vitamin D3 synthesis, calcium metabolism and therefore healthy bone formation. The problem: UV-B light cannot be seen with the naked eye. The card uses a special high-tech detection material that is printed directly onto the surface. This material reacts to UV-B rays with a clearly visible color change. The test field changes color from white to purple. The more intense the UV-B radiation, the stronger the coloration.

The application is very simple. Hold the card directly in the beam of your UV lamp for about ten seconds. The ideal distance is about five centimeters. If a purple field appears, the lamp is still emitting UV-B radiation. If the field remains white, you should replace the lamp as soon as possible.

Important: The card does not replace a professional measuring device. It serves as a quick guide. UV lamps should always be replaced after twelve months at the latest, even if they are still emitting light.
