The Hobby Perforated Stone Asian is one of the classics in terrarium design – and for good reason. With its light color and characteristic, perforated structure, it sets strong visual accents. At the same time, it offers functional added value for your terrarium inhabitants.

The numerous depressions, crevices and openings create natural hiding places. Isopods, small millipedes and other invertebrates in particular make intensive use of these cavities. Young animals like to retreat into the narrow cracks as they find protection from stress and potential dangers there. In this way, the rock actively supports your animals’ sense of security and natural behavior.

Another decisive advantage is the calcareous material. Many isopod species prefer calcareous environments, as they cover their calcium requirements via the substrate and surrounding materials. They therefore like to nibble on the relatively soft perforated rock. This contributes to the stability of the exoskeleton and healthy development.

Despite its solid appearance, the Hobby Asian perforated rock has a comparatively low weight. This makes it easy to place in the terrarium. Nevertheless, you should position it directly on the terrarium floor and not place it on loose substrate. This will prevent it from burrowing or slipping. Once correctly placed, the stone remains stable in place.

Perforated stone also offers many design possibilities. It blends harmoniously into woodland, steppe or dry landscapes. At the same time, the light-colored surface provides an attractive contrast to dark humus or green moss. In bioactive terrariums, it creates additional structure and extends the usable area.
