Forest humus – Natural forest soil for your terrarium

With our forest humus you get a piece of natural forest soil directly into your terrarium. The substrate comes from carefully controlled regional extraction and offers a particularly versatile basis for many terrarium species.

An important component of this humus is the high proportion of decayed hardwoodwhich makes up more than 30 %. This creates a particularly nutrient-rich substrate. At the same time, the decomposed wood serves as an important source of food for many organisms.

Especially for first-time decomposers forest humus is an ideal habitat. Isopods, millipedes, snails, worms and springtails find a natural environment in it. At the same time, the humus provides important organic components that are utilized by these animals.

Forest humus is therefore ideal as the main component of a soil substrate in terrariums in which invertebrates are kept. At the same time, it supports a stable biological balance in the terrarium.

Another advantage is the balanced natural pH value. This creates an environment that benefits many terrarium animals and plants. The substrate also retains moisture and provides a loose soil structure at the same time.

For additional safety, we also offer a sterilized version of our forest humus. This is used for at least Stored at -26 °C for 72 hours. This treatment creates a mosquito-free quality achieved. This allows you to set up your terrarium without introducing unwanted pests.

The application is simple. You can use the forest humus directly as Using soil substrate in the terrarium or mix it with other substrates. This creates a natural soil that supports both plants and animals.

Especially in bioactive terrariums forest humus plays an important role. The so-called soil police – Isopods, millipedes and springtails – find ideal conditions here. These animals decompose organic materials such as excrement or food scraps and at the same time provide natural soil aeration.

This improves the substrate substrate qualitywhile at the same time creating a stable micro-ecosystem. Plants grow better and terrarium animals benefit from a more natural environment.

As this is a natural product, it may occasionally contain small foreign substances despite careful checking. We therefore recommend checking the humus briefly before using it in the terrarium.

With its high proportion of organic material, its natural origin and its excellent suitability for primary decomposers, our forest humus is an ideal basis for a lively and stable terrarium.
