Flake Soil: The premium breeding substrate for invertebrates
Our Flake Soil is a versatile and highly regarded breeding substrate that is valued far beyond the beetle keeping community for a wide range of invertebrates. This innovative substrate is successfully used by breeders of cockroaches, millipedes, Isopods and springtails, especially those species that rely on the decomposition of white rot wood.
In contrast to conventional substrates such as forest humus, our Flake Soil offers an optimized nutrient composition due to its high cellulose content, making it a premium rearing substrate. This unique composition not only promotes the growth and health of the organisms living in it, but also effectively supports the decomposition of organic materials, which in turn promotes the ecological balance in the terrarium.
The substrate has been specifically designed to mimic and enhance the natural living conditions of these invertebrates, making it a superior alternative to simpler substrates. It provides a rich and sustainable environment that supports animal vitality and reproduction while ensuring ease of use for the breeder.
By creating a stable and controlled environment rich in essential nutrients, our Flake Soil sets itself apart from other substrates and offers both amateur breeders and professional terrarium keepers a reliable solution for successful breeding.
We produce our Flake Soil ourselves and therefore know exactly what it contains:
- 100% beech chips: These provide the structure and the necessary porosity.
- Bacteria from biocompost: They play a decisive role in fermentation and improve nutrient availability.
- Spring water from the Lauter: It guarantees the pure and uncontaminated moisture of the substrate.
Our flake soil undergoes a careful fermentation process that takes place in a vaulted cellar for three months and is then stored for a further month for complete fermentation. We then sterilize the substrate for 48 hours at -30° in the freezer to ensure optimum quality and purity.
We recommend not mixing Flake Soil with other types of substrate to avoid re-fermentation. In addition, the substrate should only be used in cultivation boxes with ventilation to ensure optimum conditions.
Buying Flake Soil means choosing a substrate that supports the breeding and well-being of your invertebrates in the long term. With its finely tuned composition and special treatment, it provides the ideal basis for successful and healthy breeding.
