Reptiles, amphibians, spiders, scorpions and insects are cold-blooded animals and in their natural habitat they often use surfaces warmed up by the sun as a heat source. The Exo Terra Heat Mat is a terrarium substrate heater that mimics these sun-warmed surfaces. The Exo Terra Heat Mat is an ideal primary or secondary 24-hour heat source for tropical reptiles, amphibians, spiders, scorpions and insects or for temperate reptiles, amphibians, spiders, scorpions and insects. It is also an important source of heat during the night for many desert species. The Exo Terra Heat Mat can be permanently attached to the terrarium. The firm adhesive bond ensures optimum heat transfer.

The Exo Terra Heat Mat can be used together with an Exo Terra Thermostat and/or together with additional heat sources for reptiles, amphibians, spiders, scorpions and insects with higher temperature requirements.

It is important to provide sufficient cold spots to give the animals several options and allow them to regulate their temperature.
