Exo Terra Heat Guard – Heat in the terrarium without direct contact with the lamp

The Exo Terra Heat Guard combines a lamp socket with a sturdy protective cage. This allows you to place a heat or light source directly inside the terrarium while preventing the animal from coming into direct contact with the bulb. This reduces the risk of burns and, at the same time, protects the lamp from accidental damage.

This is especially important for climbing terrarium animals. After all, they make full use of branches, back walls, and plants, allowing them to reach areas directly beneath the terrarium roof. The Heat Guard therefore creates a solid barrier between the animal and the hot light source.

Protective cage and lamp holder in one

Inside is a heat- and UV-resistant E27 ceramic socket. It is suitable for various compatible light and heat bulbs with a wattage of up to 160 W. This allows you to use the Heat Guard both to create a targeted heat spot and for suitable light sources.

The sturdy metal cage encloses the bulb, while light and heat radiation can still enter the terrarium. This way, you get heat exactly where it’s needed, while the hot bulb remains protected.

Especially useful for climbing animals

Many reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates don’t just use the floor of their terrarium. They climb along branches, plants, and back walls, which can bring them very close to an internally mounted lamp.

This is exactly where the Exo Terra Heat Guard shines. It prevents direct access to the lamp while still allowing you to place the heat source inside the terrarium.

The spacing between the individual wires of the lower protective mesh is only 5 mm. This also prevents smaller animals from climbing into the protective cage.

Securely bolted protective grille

The lower grille is secured with two Phillips-head screws. This ensures that it sits securely and cannot be easily loosened, as is the case with some snap-in or spring-loaded systems.

Even so, changing the bulb is still easy. All you have to do is loosen the two screws and remove the protective grille. You don’t need to take the entire fixture out of the terrarium to do this.

Suitable for various E27 bulbs

The E27 ceramic socket allows for the use of various suitable terrarium lamps. Exo Terra lists, among others, Intense Basking Spots, Daytime Basking Spots, and Night Heat lamps.

The power must not exceed 160 W. In addition, the light bulb used, including the E27 base, must be no longer than 13.5 cm.

This way, you can choose the right heat source for your pet, while the Heat Guard provides the necessary protection.

Thoughtfully Designed Down to the Cable

Care was also taken to ensure a clean installation. There is ample space above the ceramic socket, while a dedicated cable outlet routes the power cord out of the mount.

This allows the Heat Guard to fit snugly against the terrarium lid, preventing unnecessary gaps where a pet could get in or squeeze through.

The power cord is 180 cm long and also features a built-in ON/OFF switch. This makes it easy to operate the connected lamp.
