Pink in the terrarium: This Isopod is a real highlight
Cubaris spec. “Cherry Blossom” is a species of isopod that not only impresses with its delicate appearance, but also with its natural origin. The soft pink basic coloration with bright accents is not the result of deliberate breeding, but is found exactly as it is in nature. Its delicate beauty is reminiscent of falling cherry blossoms – and that is exactly what makes it so special.
The Cherry Blossom is rather quiet in behavior, but by no means shy. Especially after spraying or in the evening hours, there is movement in the group. If you watch patiently, you will be rewarded with fascinating insights: small social interactions, slow exploratory tours and the typical rolling for camouflage or defense.
When kept, it requires a little more attention than robust species. An evenly moist climate with high humidity, stable temperatures and a varied soil layer with plenty of natural material are crucial. Foliage, white rotten wood, moss and hidden retreats not only ensure safety, but also a stable microclimate in which the animals feel comfortable. Calcareous components such as crushed cuttlebone or limestone are important for moulting and healthy shell development.
The Cubaris spec. “Cherry Blossom” requires a constantly high humidity of around 75 to 85 %. The animals become particularly active after spraying. It is important that it never gets too wet – a warm and humid climate without waterlogging ensures well-being and healthy molting. If you spray regularly and keep the microclimate stable, you will create the best conditions for successful keeping.
This Cubaris species is ideal for keepers who are not only looking for functional bottom dwellers for their organic setups, but also value aesthetics, naturalness and calm but interesting behavior. Breeding is reliable under suitable conditions, which gradually results in the development of a stable, small colony – a lively, gentle accent in the terrarium that is never intrusive but always fascinating.
Cubaris spec. “Cherry Blossom” is therefore a wonderful choice for lovers of rare isopod species. Their natural beauty, gentle behavior and original origin make them a real highlight in any collection.
