The Arcadia compact lamp D3 Desert 12 % UV-B was specially developed for reptiles and invertebrates from particularly sunny habitats. With a high UV-B content of 12 % and 30 % UV-A, it provides exactly the radiation spectrum that prevails in deserts and semi-deserts. Animals from open habitats in particular, such as bearded dragons, desert geckos or steppe skinks, are dependent on intensive UV radiation. They use sunlight to produce vitamin D3, which in turn is essential for calcium absorption. Without sufficient UV-B, deficiency symptoms can quickly occur – this lamp effectively prevents this.

The Arcadia compact lamp is available in two power levels: the 13-watt version produces 270 lumens and is suitable for smaller terrariums up to around 40 cm high. The 23-watt version provides 416 lumens and is ideal for tanks up to around 60 cm high. In both cases, the lamp not only provides the necessary UV radiation, but also improves the general quality of light in the terrarium. This promotes the natural behavior of the animals, increases their activity and can even have a positive effect on their appetite.

It is particularly easy to use: the lamp fits into any standard E27 socket and does not require a ballast. This makes it ideal for beginners and anyone looking for an uncomplicated solution. It can be used both as the main light source in small pools and as a supplement to other lighting systems. The light spectrum also has advantages for plant growth in the terrarium – especially for robust, dry-loving species.

As with all UVB lamps, this compact lamp should also be replaced approximately every 12 months. Although it continues to shine visually, the UV output decreases over time.
