Porcellio echinatus

At first glance, Porcellio echinatus looks like Porcellio scaber, i.e. like the common woodlouse. They are gray throughout and rather inconspicuous. But when you touch them, you notice that they feel very rough and when you take a closer look, you recognize the small spines on their exoskeleton.

 

Like all Porcellio species we keep the animals on a rather dry ground with a wet moss corner. However, the animals are by no means susceptible to a more humid environment. In general the reproduction rate is high and the animals settle down quickly in their new environment.
