Our Isopod Terrarium Set is suitable for all isopod species. The terrarium size is 19 x 35 x 19 cm (L x D x H). The terrarium is equipped with a trapdoor at the front and closes the terrarium tightly. Even springtails cannot find their way out. The ventilation is very well ensured with a 5 cm wide and 19 cm long stainless steel perforated plate. The filling height is 7 cm and thus also allows beginners an easy handling. Due to a high substrate height a more constant humidity is achieved without creating stagnant moisture. This increases the well-being of the animals and reduces the workload of the owner. The terrarium is built with polished float glass with a thickness of 4mm. Due to the cut there are no sharp edges and therefore no risk of injury for humans and animals. The glass thickness of 4mm provides sufficient stability and thus increases the life span of the terrarium.
Our forest humus provides for an optimal ground substrate. The 3 litre container fills the filling height perfectly and is the perfect start for a living terrarium substrate. As food source our complete set offers 1 liter of white rotting wood, 1 liter of leaves and a can of isopod food “Gammarus”. Isopods need calcium for their exoskeleton, for this reason the set includes a large piece of cuttlebone and cuttlefish powder. The cork bark completes the set and offers the animals a hiding place as well as a dry underground.
The light source is an AquaLighter Nano Soft LED with magnetic holder with 5 super bright LEDs from OSRAM.
The LED illumination lamp is supplied with power via a USB port.
The operation runs via a standard USB power supply 5V.
